Sorrento

Sorrento is one of the world’s most intensely emotive zones, where the Homeric
hero Ulysses resisted the Sirens by having himself tied to the last of the ship and
blocking his ears with wax.

Here the Greeks first brought their high culture and later
the Roman emperors lived in lavish luxury. It was during the era of the Grand Tour in
the early eighteen century that Sorrento began to attract a huge number of visitors
and, in more recent times, the most glamorous celebrities have chosen it as one of
their most favorite vacation destinations. The Siren Land has also a special place in
the history of Neapolitan music, with approximately one hundred songs dedicated
to Sorrento, among which the towns theme tune is certainly no other than “Torna
‘a Surriento’.
